Weekly Reminders

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you had a wonderful long weekend!  It's hard to believe we only have 6 weeks of school left in this school year.  We have creative lessons, field trips, exams and awesome events planned.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the office.  We'd be happy to help.
DROP & GO ZONE:  Thank you to everyone for your extra care and attention to our DROP AND GO ZONE in front of the school extending to the east end of the tennis courts.  It is so important for student safety and traffic flow that parents remain in their vehicles as they pull into the drop and go zone and allow their child(ren) out.  Thank you for keeping this zone a NO PARKING ZONE and for parking on the south side of 59 Street or in the gravel parking lot across the road.

This year the golf tournament is raising funds to support the playground builds for our Gateway students. Come and enjoy a beautiful day of 18 holes of golf and a BBQ dinner at Alberta Springs Golf Resort, and celebrate the wonderful community we have in each other.
The cost is $175/player. For more information or questions please contact Corinna Van Niejenhuis at corinnavann@gmail.com.

Our Gr. 5 girls & boys attended the Annual Go Girls/Grow Boys Celebrations on Wednesday, May 16th.

Go Girls took place at the Collicutt Centre.  The event promoted health, confidence and physical activity to Grade 5 girls in the Red Deer Public School District and Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.  The event provided learning opportunities through a variety of interactive sessions, which included nutrition, body confidence, tumbling, softball and even triathlon.  If your daughter attended, please ask them about the awesome event.

Grow Boys took place at the G.H. Dawe Centre where boys participated in everything from judo to skateboarding.  The program is designed to introduce boys to the concept of HOPE, which is an acronym for health, opportunity, privilege and education.

Mr. Driedger’s favourite session was The Human Library.  Below are Rueben & Justin with a Human Golf Book and Mr. Rand with a Human Guitar Playing Book!  How COOL is that!  If your son was at the event, ask him what his favourite part of the day was.

Please save the dates August 29, 30, 31 and September 1, 2018 from 8 am - 6 pm to help build the playground.
